The Lord Chamberlain’s Men are one of the UK’s finest open-air theatre companies and each summer they perform William Shakespeare’s plays at over 70 open-air historic houses, castles and palaces around the UK and across Europe.
The design inspiration came from the line “Blood will have blood” when Macbeth recalls an old saying that blood shed through violence seeks more blood in revenge, creating a cycle of bloodshed. The sinking crown illustrates both King Duncan’s death at the hands of Macbeth and Macbeth’s own inevitable death.
Over 70 venues required bespoke leaflets, posters (A4 to A0 sizes), adverts, vinyl banners (from 2 metres to almost 5 metres in length) and a souvenir tour programme.
